The day finally arrived, we kicked off Tech Field Day 5 tonight in San Jose! This is my first Tech Field Day and it has been a blast so far and we haven’t even had any sessions with vendors yet. As soon as we landed in San Jose (a super clean airport), the hotel shuttle picked us up and we headed to the hotel for check in. Stephen Foskett greeted us at the door and helped us check in. The hotel is really nice and the people are too. I met all of the delegates in the hotel lobby and then we headed over to grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant. The restaurant was called Zeytoun, it is a middle eastern restaurant that was amazing. The nice thing was that the restaurant was closed down and we had it all to ourselves, this was a really nice touch. Needless to say it was an amazing 4 course meal which was so good I ended up overeating as I’m sure everyone else did. Randomly in the middle of dinner a belly dancer came on to the scene and did a great dance routine complete with finger cymbals, a sword and some embarrassing audience participation (yes, Stephen Foskett belly danced!). Fortunately for the rest of the group I didn’t get any pictures, I was too busy eating.

Throughout dinner we all exchanged gifts that were specific to our locality. Being from Phoenix, I brought cactus candy and jelly along with other various flavored jellies. Maish, being from Israel, brought us all pastries from a Israeli bakery which were delicious. Many others brought great gifts, and it was all in all a very fun evening. Of course being a delegate, I didn’t have to come out-of-pocket one cent which was really nice, so far I’ve been treated very well. I’m grateful to Stephen for inviting me and the others who helped to vote me in as a delegate. Looking forward to a fun-filled day tomorrow starting off at Symantec, and then to Drobo and a couple of others. Keep watch on my blog, I’ll be writing updates at least twice a day.
